About the Distinguished Lecture Series
The Distinguished Lecture Series of the University of Hawaiʻi strives to bring together the University with the larger community it serves. It hosts extraordinarily talented men and women whose work in the arts, sciences, or humanities is innovative and significant, and gives them a forum in which to share their contributions with the people of Hawai'i. The Series has a two-part format: each speaker gives both a public address aimed at a wide audience and a smaller, more specialized talk. (Sometimes he or she conducts a seminar or workshop.) All events are free and open to the public.
At this web site, we have provided our schedule for the upcoming academic year, a call for nominations and a description of the selection process, and tips for organizations that would like to co-sponsor a speaker in the Distinguished Lecture Series. For further information, or with any comments or suggestions you have, please contact Hope Jahren at (808) 956-8489 or e-mail her at jahren@hawaii.edu.
