Hebrew University professor Yehuda Bauer will present a series of public lectures and on-campus seminars during a two-week visit to UH Manoa later this month and in early February.

Bauer is the foremost international scholar of the Shoah, or Holocaust, and the author of a dozen books on this and related topics. He is currently a board member and serves as the academic adviser to Yad Vashem, the International Institute for Holocaust Research. Professor Bauer has most recently participated in the international Stockholm Conference on the Prevention of Genocide and is writing a detailed history of one community, or shtetl, in Poland that was home to a Jewish leader executed by the Nazis in 1941.

This is a return visit to UH Manoa for Professor Bauer. He was a visiting professor here in 1992 and returned a few years ago for a lecture series and to meet with students. The current series of public events will follow the schedule below. In addition, he plans two working seminars for Humanities, Social Science and Law faculty and students.
