BACKGROUND: The University of Hawaiʻi Professors, Deans and Directors Lecture Series with Walter Jamieson is the second in a four-part spring series offered by Hawaiʻi Community College and its UH Center, West Hawaiʻi in partnership with UH Mānoa.

Jamieson will discuss the challenges facing the tourism industry and all of Hawai'i‘s citizens and will suggest practical means for ensuring that tourism in Hawai'i is seen as an important development tool that meets the needs of the community as well as the visitor.

He has served as a consultant for the World Tourism Organization, ESCAP and UNESCO. In 2003, he was awarded the Queen‘s Jubilee Medal for his work in heritage preservation in Canada.
