University of Hawaii Professor Recognized for Contributions to Student Honor Society

University of Hawaiʻi Assistant Professor of Family Resources Rick Caulfield has been selected as the recipient of the 2004 Marion Bachtel Collegiate Advisor Award for the Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron.

Phi Upsilon Omicron is a national honor society for family and consumer science students. Consisting of over 90 chapters, Phi Upsilon Omicron‘s purpose is to recognize academic excellence and to develop qualities of professional and personal leadership in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences. This national award is granted each year to recognize distinguished service by chapter advisors.

Since joining UH Mānoa‘s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources faculty in 1995, Caulfield has been instrumental in ensuring a high quality of student life during his tenure as the Phi Upsilon Omicron advisor. He has served as advisor for the UH Mānoa chapter since 1997. He has also been the recipient of several teaching awards including the University of Hawaiʻi 2003 Excellence in Teaching Award, the 2000 Frances Davis Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award, and the 1997 Teaching Award of Merit from the National Association of Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture.

Caulfield will be honored at Phi Upsilon Omicron‘s Conclave 2004 in Lincoln, Nebraska, later this fall.
