The baccalaureate and master‘s degree programs in nursing at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa (UHM) are the first and only nursing programs in the state to receive accreditation by two nursing educational accrediting agencies. The nursing program successfully completed the extensive self-studies and site visits in the Fall of 2000.

The baccalaureate and master‘s degree programs in nursing at UHM were granted accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for a term of 10 years, extending to June 30, 2011. Conceived by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in 1996, the Commission officially began accrediting operations in 1998. CCNE is an autonomous accrediting arm of the AACN contributing to the improvement of the public‘s health.

The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) also approved the baccalaureate and master‘s degree nursing programs at UHM for continuing accreditation through Fall 2008. UHM‘s baccalaureate program received initial accreditation in 1956 and the master‘s program in 1967 by the NLNAC. NLNAC is a nationally recognized specialized accrediting agency for all types of nursing programs and provides continuous monitoring of approximately 1,700 programs.

Long recognized as the "gold standard" for nursing education in the state of Hawaiʻi, the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa provides students with an in-depth understanding of best evidence-based nursing and dental hygiene practices, an awareness of culture, knowledge development strategies, and a comprehension of emerging technologies within a global health care environment. The School offers students a wide selection of degree and certificate programs in a unique multicultural learning environment enhanced by collaborative community-based learning experiences, research projects, an internationally recognized faculty and study opportunities abroad.
