Leeward Community College Theatre presents DanceQuake IV on Saturday, February 28, at 8 p.m. at the Leeward Community College Theatre. DanceQuake IV will make a three-island concert tour to celebrate Hawaiʻi‘s cultural diversity and its achievements in dance.

The performances feature Ben Arcangel in Javanese dance, Michael Pili Pang in hula, Eric Wada in Okinawan dance, and David Ward in modern dance. Ward is also the producer of DanceQuake IV. Ward‘s concert segment will include the world premieres of three new choreographed works, a suite of dances celebrating the glorious diversity of human cultures. These works borrow imagery from three continents: North America with an Appalachian theme; South America with sensual Brazilian movements; and the Middle East with suggestions of a starry, magical Persian night.

The purpose of DanceQuake is to highlight Hawaiʻi‘s achievements in dance by bringing together different ethnic and artistic traditions on the same stage. Previous festivals have featured more than 200 dancers and triggered innovative collaborations. The complete festival includes classes, workshops, and school presentations.

The tour also includes concerts at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's Castle Theater on Friday, February 20, and at the University of Hawaiʻi Hilo Theater on Saturday, March 6, each starting at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available by calling the Leeward Community College Box Office at 455-0385.
