Thanks to a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation, Kapiolani Community College sent students from the UHCC system for a semester of study to Japan and China. In Fall 2014 a total of nine students from Kapi'olani, Kaua'i, Hawai'i, Windward and Honolulu community colleges spent four months of study at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. In spring 2015 a total of eight students are currently studying for a semester at East China Normal University in Shanghai.

All expenses were paid for by the Freeman Foundation grant to Kapi'olani Community College.

This summer and fall, Kapi'olani Community College will select a new group of students to spend a semester in Korea and Japan all expenses paid. Application deadline for either the Korean and Japanese programs should be posted by April 2, 2015.
