Enrollment at the University of Hawaiʻi – West Oʻahu is at its highest in the University’s history. Fall 2014 enrollment reached 2,704 students, or an increase of nearly 13 percent – the seventh straight year UH West Oʻahu has experienced double-digit percentage increases in enrollment.

“The strong fall enrollment at UH West Oʻahu is especially rewarding because UH West Oʻahu serves a high percentage of Native Hawaiians, students who are the first in their families to attend a university, and those from other underrepresented groups in higher education from the Leeward and West Oʻahu areas,” said UH West Oʻahu Chancellor Rockne Freitas. “UH West Oʻahu’s Kapolei campus was built to serve these students and we are doing exactly that.”

Formerly known as West Oʻahu College, the University was established in 1976 and has evolved from a two-year baccalaureate institution to a four-year University with programs that emphasize the exploration of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural studies. The University began accepting freshman students in fall 2007 and opened its Kapolei campus in 2012. UH West Oʻahu offers six bachelor’s degree programs in more than 25 areas of study including Business Administration, Creative Media, Elementary, Middle and Secondary Education. UH West O‘ahu became a four-year, regional comprehensive university when it served its first class of freshmen in fall 2007. The University offers quality education, small classes and personalized attention at convenient locations. UH West O‘ahu serves approximately 2,700 students at its brand new, state-of-the-art campus that opened in the City of Kapolei in 2012.
