Keith Amemiya, Executive Administrator and Secretary of the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents since March of 2010, will leave University service to assume the position of Senior Vice President with Island Holdings, Inc., parent company of Island Insurance, Atlas Insurance, Tradewind Capital, and other local businesses. Amemiya’s last day with the University will be November 30, 2012.

“Keith Amemiya has served both the Board of Regents and the University of Hawaiʻi with distinction and honor,” said Board Chair Eric Martinson. “We greatly appreciate his professional support of our efforts as Regents and his passionate commitment to our community, and we understand his choice to accept a tremendous growth opportunity with a respected kamaʻaina company. We wish him the very best.”

During Amemiya’s two and a half years as Board Secretary, he has been responsible for serving as the liaison between the Board and University leadership, managing the Board of Regents office and staff, and scheduling and administering all Board meetings.

“As much as we will miss Keith’s excellent service to the Board and the University, we recognize this professional opportunity as being a wonderful next step for him and for Island Holdings. We appreciate the quality and professionalism he brought to the job and we will miss him very much,” said M.R.C. Greenwood, President, University of Hawaiʻi.

The Board has begun the recruitment process for a new Secretary and Executive Administrator for the UH Board of Regents office.
