The Lyon Arboretum at UH Mānoa is welcoming spring 2012 with its biggest horticultural plant sale of the year from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at its Mānoa Valley location. The sale will be the day before Mother’s Day – a great opportunity to buy unique gifts. Admission is free.

Available for purchase will be Native Hawaiian plants, including Hawaiian ferns, heliconias, gingers, anthuriums, orchids, tillandsias and other bromeliads, UH variety vegetable seeds and many other plants for home and garden.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lyon Arboretum. In addition to the sale, a worm composting demonstration will be on site with starter kits available, and Lyon Arboretum volunteers from Hui Hana Hawai’i will be selling fresh haku lei, jams, jellies and Hawaiian honey.

A free shuttle service to the Arboretum has pick-up and drop-off points at the intersections of Po’elua Street and Mānoa Road, and Nipo Street and Mānoa Road.
