On November 29, 2002, Golden Key International Honour Society will celebrate 25 years of success as an academic honor society dedicated to recognizing the top 15% of academically successful juniors and seniors at 333 college and university chapters around the globe.

Golden Key is unique among honor societies because it offers benefits beyond academic recognition including leadership training, service opportunities and career assistance. Significant achievements of the past 25 years include:

*the awarding of more than four million dollars in Golden Key scholarships;
*the extension of the honor society concept to include chapters in seven countries including Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States;
*and the creation of the Golden Key corporate council including Ford, Shell, Boeing, Merck, Bank of America, MBNA America, Gateway and General Mills.

"I am honored to serve Golden Key as the Society celebrates its first quarter century," said Alexander D. Perwich II, Golden Key‘s Chief Executive Officer. "I am committed to providing Golden Key the purpose, motivation and direction necessary to accomplish its mission and to improve the organization in the next 25 years, and I look forward to hearing from students and faculty whose input will be the impetus for change."

Golden Key was created by a group of undergraduate students at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA on November 29, 1977. In 25 years, the Society has grown to serve more than 1.4 million lifetime members representing 160 different countries and has established itself as a positive force in higher education. More than 13,000 honorary members, including world leaders, public servants and Nobel Prize winners, are proud of their association with this dynamic organization.

As part of the 25th Anniversary celebration, the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa Chapter will participate in an Adult Friends for Youth Service Project on November 29, 2002. This is just one of the many events the UH Manoa Chapter is planning for the rest of the school year. More information about these activities can be found on the chapter's website. Please join us in celebrating Golden Key's 25th Anniversary by participating in our many activities!
