East-West Center's Leadership Certificate Program hosts film screening

In honor of Earth Month, students from East-West Center’s Leadership Certificate Program will host a free screening of the award-winning film FLOW – For the Love of Water at UH Mānoa’s Spalding Auditorium on Sunday, April 25, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  The event, sponsored by the East-West Center Participant Association and supported by the UH Mānoa’s Environmental Center, has been organized to bring awareness about the world water crisis. 

 

A panel discussion and reception will follow the film screening.  Booth displays from organizations such as the Surfrider O‘ahu Chapter and UH Mānoa’s Environment Center will provide additional information on environmental initiatives and community initiatives.

 

According to www.flowthefilm.com, the film gives viewers a look at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water crisis and those developing new technologies, which are fast becoming blueprints for a successful global and economic turnaround. The students from East-West Center’s Leadership Certificate Program are committed to facilitating discussions and constructive measures. Making clean water accessible as a natural resource to be enjoyed by all without restrictions based on societal status and standing is a generational challenge that should begin today.

 

East-West Center’s Leadership Certificate Program aims to create awareness and highlight the growing leadership by communities around the world in dealing with the dire challenge of access to clean water. The Leadership Certificate Program and the East-West Center Participant Association use their diverse experience and expertise by taking the lead in addressing regional and global challenges.
