Dr. Doug McKenzie-Mohr, a professor, author, and international expert in community-based social marketing, will be offering a one-day workshop as well as a free public lecture at UH Mānoa on Monday, March 8. McKenzie-Mohr will show that the most popular tools used to encourage more sustainable behavior—providing information and building awareness—are largely ineffective.

The lecture and workshop are co-sponsored by the UH Mānoa, the City and County of Honolulu, Sustain Hawai‘i and the UH Sea Grant College Program. Both events will highlight the knowledge needed to create community-based social marketing programs, and provide a set of “tools” that social science research has demonstrated to be effective in fostering and maintaining behavior change.

Workshop: Monday, March 8, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
UH Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom
$15 registration fee (limited seating capacity)
Registration required by Friday, February 26

Free evening public lecture: Monday, March 8, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
