The University of Hawai’i at Mānoa’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents the 2009 “Fall Footholds” Dance Concert at the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre October 21, 22, 23, 24 at 8 p.m. and October 25 at 2 p.m. There will be a post-show rap following the October 23 performance.
The choreography of three Master of Fine Arts candidates, Jennifer L. McGowan, Lisa Orig, and Michele M. Painter, will be featured along with works from both graduate and undergraduate students. McGowan’s “Threaded” is divided into three separate works that explore the hope, spirituality and struggles that are intertwined in a community to keep it continually growing. Orig’s “Posture Lab” explores the evolution of human posture asking us to look at our daily activities and their affects on our bodies. Orig encourages us to get up from the computer, drop our baggage, and move. Painter’s work, titled “It Springs Forth in Stillness,” explores a juxtaposition between rest and unrest. Painter presents a piece that conveys a feeling of quiet ecstasy on stage and promises to provide a thought-provoking experience for the audience.
