After a decade of service, Dr. Edwin Cadman, former dean of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, is retiring from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Dr. Cadman moved from Yale University in November 1999 to be dean of JABSOM, a position he held until 2005, when he stepped down as dean but continued as a member of the faculty.

"The University of Hawai‘i and our entire state owes Dr. Cadman a deep debt of gratitude for his outstanding service, and we wish him well," said UH President David McClain. Dr. Cadman plans to retire October 31.

UH Mānoa Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw adds: "Our UH Medical School‘s Kaka‘ako campus was built as a direct result of Ed Cadman‘s energy, passion and vision. Thanks to him, the Medical School‘s Class of 2009 is graduating this month after studying for the past four years in one of the most modern medical schools in the country."

"We look forward to celebrating his many accomplishments in the months to come," she said.

Before coming to Hawai‘i, Dr. Cadman served as Chief of Staff and Senior Vice-President for Medical Affairs at Yale-New Haven Hospital Health System since 1987.
