"Here‘s an opportunity to see the legends close-up in a more intimate setting," says Ron Loo, Hawaiian slack key master and WCC professor, "where they‘ll be sharing stories about slack key, their travels and their special sound."

The Talk-Story Series was created to promote Hawaiian music events and courses, and to recognize Hawaiian music masters who reside on the Windward side. Ke Kumu Pali, responsible for guiding Hawaiian studies courses and related endeavors at Windward Community College, sponsors the event.

Cyril Pahinui, son of musical legend, Gabby Pahinui, is, in his own right, one of Hawaiʻi‘s most gifted guitarists and singers. Cyril has twice played at Carnegie Hall, has contributed to two Grammy Award-winning albums, received several Hoku Hanohano Awards, and recorded on more than 25 Hawaiian musical releases.
