The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is planning its first-ever campus-wide open house on November 15 to showcase its programs to all Oʻāhu high school students from the 9th-12th grades and their parents.

The Mānoa Experience is planned as UH Mānoa's premier on-campus academic event of the fall semester - a special day of programs and free activities to exhibit all that the University has to offer students from academics to campus activities.

This campus-wide activity will feature open houses by all of UH Mānoa‘s schools and colleges. The faculty has planned a great day of interactive and informative sessions which will provide a glimpse into Mānoa‘s degree programs and majors.

Attendees will enjoy a free-flowing program that allows participants to choose where to go and what to see. Among the many activities planned for the day are:

  • Academic open houses where participants can learn more about the college and the many research initiatives that the faculty and students participate in and be able to participate in hands-on activities and enjoy live performances
  • Campus tours by current students
  • A tour of the residence halls
  • Informational sessions by admissions specialists, financial aid, and the parent program
  • Student Services and Activities Fair

"This is a terrific opportunity for potential students to visit our campus and discover the many reasons they should consider Mānoa as a ʻfirst-choice‘ destination," said UH Mānoa Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw.

"This event will enable participants to meet with faculty and students from the various departments at their school or college‘s open house and attend the student services and activities fair where they can learn about student life here on campus," said Dr. Francisco Hernandez, Vice Chancellor for Students.

"We hope to demonstrate to our local community that the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is here to serve them and that we can offer their students a quality educational and collegiate experience," said Vice Chancellor Hernandez.

The Mānoa Experience will open at the Stan Sheriff Center at 8 a.m. and will close at the Quad, located behind the historic Hawai‘i Hall, with the Student Services and Activities Fair at 2:30 p.m.

The fair will feature information booths by student services programs, student clubs and organizations, Athletics, the Rainbowtique, and food vendors from the campus‘s food services. There will be prize drawings from the Rainboutique and Athletics and there will be entertainment by Kahiau and Kapena. Radio personalities from Da Bomb will also be DJs for this event.
