Teachers are invited to ʻImiloa to participate in two workshops on Hands-On Optics (HOO), a program consisting of six modules of fun, engaging activities about light. HOO, which is designed to get students interested in science, is appropriate for grades 5-12. No previous knowledge or experience with optics is needed to attend. Teachers who complete the training will have access to kits containing allthe materials they need to teach the HOO activities in their schools.
On March 17-18, the two-day workshop will provide training on Modules 1-3, engaging activities presented as Laser Challenges, Kaleidoscope Adventures, and Magnificent Magnifications. On March 24-25, training will cover Modules 4-6, exciting activities that explore optics in Peculiar Polarization, Ultraviolet and Infrared Light, and Communicating on a Beam of Light.
Teachers are welcome to attend one or both trainings. Each two-day workshop costs $10, which includes instructional manuals and morning coffee, and runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
