HONOLULU — The Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training (PCATT) at Honolulu Community College in partnership with Apple Inc. invites educators, IT specialists and administrators to learn about the latest digital trends at Hawaiʻi‘s first PCATT/Apple Summer Institute from May 21-23, 2007. The free workshops are open to Apple users of all skill levels and will include lecture format seminars and hands-on experimental sessions.

"With technology such as podcasting, blogging, streaming and video editing quickly becoming the norm, the educational community is often encouraged to keep up with these trends to utilize in their respective areas," said Grace Funai, PCATT Program Manager. "The PCATT/Apple Summer Institute offers participants a unique chance to gain practical skills to take back to their campuses."

Topics on podcasting, Mac 101 basics, advanced video editing, web-based content delivery, iTunes U, Multi-OS support, storage area networks, Xsan, and more will be presented by leading technology experts from Hawaiʻi and from Apple, Inc. Frank Callaham, Apple Development Executive for Information Technology, is one of the featured speakers who will present various sessions during the three-day conference.

Half-day sessions for executive level decision makers interested in learning about these technologies and trends from an administrator‘s perspective will be offered on Monday, May 21. Participants will create digital tools for sharing their vision with their constituents and stakeholders. Educators and IT specialists will be able to attend five different tracks offered on May 22-23, 2007.

Online registration begins on May 1, 2007. Seating is limited so early registration is encouraged. Visit pcatt.org to register and to obtain further information about the sessions.
