LĪHUʻE, Kauaʻi — Faculty, staff and students of Kauaʻi Community College were joined on campus by various dignitaries and community members today to celebrate the groundbreaking for the campus‘ new One-Stop Center.

Doing just what it‘s name says, the building will bring together in one place a range of services for students that are currently scattered throughout the campus. Admissions and records, student advising, placement testing, career counseling, cashiering and business office functions, as well as the University Center student support and information services, will all be conveniently located at the front of the campus.

"The One-Stop Information Center has been on the top of the Kauaʻi Community College capital improvements list since 2000, and we are extremely grateful to the Legislature and the Governor for fulfilling this pressing need for the campus," said Kauaʻi CC Chancellor Peggy Cha. "When completed, the center will make a tremendous difference in serving the needs of our students and the Kauaʻi community as a whole."

The consolidation of these essential student and administrative services into one location also creates valuable space on campus for more direct services, including additional classrooms and learning center activities. The Kauaʻi CC Faculty Senate Building and Grounds Committee is overseeing the process of assigning available space.

Funding for Phase II of this capital improvements project has also been appropriated. The second phase provides facilities to house the college‘s Apprenticeship program and the Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET), two programs that are most responsive to the immediate workforce training needs of the Kauaʻi community.
