Linda Johnsrud appointed UH vice president for academic planning and policy

HONOLULU — The University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents (BOR) appointed Linda Johnsrud to the position of vice president for academic planning and policy for the University of Hawaiʻi system at its monthly meeting held this week at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. Johnsrud‘s appointment is for three years, effective immediately through July 31, 2009.

"I‘m most pleased that the BOR has confirmed the appointment of Linda Johnsrud as our chief academic officer," said UH President David McClain. "The university is fortunate to have her continued support as part of our leadership team. Her proven ability to collaborate with campus academic leaders and assist in setting forth the university‘s overall academic vision and goals is invaluable."

The current president-elect of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), Johnsrud was named interim associate vice president for planning and policy in 2003 and was appointed interim vice president in 2005. She has also served as acting/interim chancellor for UH West Oʻahu. A professor of educational administration in the UH Mānoa College of Education, her first administrative appointment at UH was in 1996. Prior to joining UH, she served as an administrator for small private colleges for 11 years.

Johnsrud received her doctorate from Ohio State University in higher education, and her master‘s degree from Western Illinois University in college student personnel administration.
