HONOLULU — Leeward Community College (LCC) received the first place award for its 2004 academic catalog at the prestigious National Council of Marketing and Public Relations Paragon Awards competition held on March 15 in Minneapolis, Minn. LCC has participated in the competition in the last three years to showcase the catalog and the college, while creating an inviting and positive first look for potential students.

"I‘m so happy that all the hard work of the campus has been acknowledged by national adjudicators," said Kathleen Cabral, director of marketing at Leeward CC, who accepted the award at the national conference. "The judges were impressed with the organization of content and the use of faculty and staff photos throughout the publication, which promoted the people who are the heart of our college."

A panel of more than 40 judges reviewed nearly 1,750 entries — the highest number of entries in its history — in this annual competition that recognizes excellence in communications exclusively among two-year colleges.

The catalog will also be on display at the national convention of the American Association of Community Colleges in Boston in April.

The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and PR professionals at community, technical and junior colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR today has more than 1,550 members from more than 600 colleges across the United States, Canada and the Bahamas.
