Summer Exchange Programs
for Outbound UHM students
International Summer University (ISUP) at Copenhagen Business School
- Six-week program for students from all over the world in Denmark (June 22 - Aug 2, 2013).
- Students can choose from a wide range of classic business courses, as well as more diverse courses that draw on other academic disciplines. Participants earn six transfer credits.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session, and do not pay tuition/fees to CBS.

Reims Management School Summer Programme
- This program is open to graduate students only.
- Two-week session in Reims, France. Students earn 6 credits per session (two 3-credit courses). There are four 2-week sessions offered in summer 2013: June 2-14, June 16-28, June 30-July 12, and July 14-26.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.

WHU European Bachelor Summer Institute
- Two-week program in Vallendar, Germany. Program runs June 2-15, 2013.

- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session, and also pay a WHU registration fee (approx. $500), which covers course materials, chartered airport shuttle on first & last day of program, welcome reception, lunches, and farewell dinner, excursions and company visits, local bus ticket.
- Students live in on-campus single rooms; the housing cost for two weeks is approx. $400. Participants must pay their own international airfare and breakfasts/dinners, and should allocate for personal spending/travel money for the weekends. There are restaurants and supermarkets close to the dormitories, and dorms have shared kitchen facilities.
- Students are in class Monday through Friday. English is the language of instruction.
- Participants choose one two-week session: Session I (May 5-17, 2013) OR Session II (May 19-31, 2013).

Chinese University of Hong Kong International Summer School
- Six-week program in Hong Kong (July 2 - August 5, 2013).
- The program is truly international, with about 650 students from over 36 different countries! In addition to Chinese language, courses in business, engineering, environmental studies, humanities, and social sciences are offered. Many courses focus on the Asian of Chinese perspective.
- On-campus housing is available; student dormitories are double- or triple-occcupancy with shared kitchen and living spaces. Students can dine in on-campus canteens.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session. Participants earn six or nine transfer credits.
- This program is open to graduate students only.
- Two-week sessions in Beijing, China. Participants earn three transfer credits per session.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.

Akita International University Summer Program
- Six-week program in Akita, Japan (June 17-July 26, 2013). This is an excellent program for students who have little to no prior Japanese language experience.
- Participants live in furnished on-campus dorms, double rooms, with a Japanese or international roommate. Students purchase a meal plan to take three meals per day in the on-campus Cafeteria.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
Hiroshima and Peace Summer Program at Hiroshima City University
- Two-week program at Hiroshima City University in Japan (late July-early August).
- Participants register for PACE 485 and earn three UHM credits.

Kanazawa Institute of Technology IJST (Intensive Japanese for Science and Technology) program
- Six-week program in Kanazawa, Japan (late May-mid July).
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
Summer Ritsumeikan APU Gateway Program
- Eight-week program in Beppu, Japan (June 3 - Aug 1, 2013).
- Students apply directly to APU, and pay APU tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the Summer Ritsumeikan APU Gateway Program do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition.

Sophia University Summer Session in Japanese Languages
- Intensive six-week program (June 10 - July 19, 2013) in Tokyo for students who want to improve their Japanese language abilities. Beginner and intermediate levels available.
- Alongside the Japanese language courses, students will attend a lecture series on Japanese Studies which provides insights on culture, society, economy, and history.
- Students apply directly to Sophia University, and pay Sophia University tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the Sophia University Summer Program do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition.
Sophia University Summer Session in Asian Studies
- Four-week program (July 25 - Aug 14, 2013) in Tokyo for students to reflect on Japan and its role in the world.
- Asian Studies courses are supplemented by cultural field trips. Students take two intensive courses and earn six transfer credits.
- Students apply directly to Sophia University, and pay Sophia University tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the Sophia University Summer Program do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition.
Chung-Ang University International Summer School
- Three-week program in Seoul, Korea (late June-mid July). Participants may earn three credits.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
Chungnam National University International Summer School
- Three week program in Daejeon, Korea (late July to mid-August). Students take Korean language classes in the morning, and participate in cultural activities and field trips in the afternoon.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
Ewha Womans University International Co-Ed Summer School
- Six-week program in Seoul, Korea (late June-early August).
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
- Three-week program in Incheon, Korea (August 5-23, 2013). Incheon is on the west coast of Korea, about 30 km from Seoul.
- Participants earn five transfer credits: Korean Culture Workshop (1 credit) and two Electives (2 credits each). Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Korean Language courses are offered. Classes include some local field trips.
- The program consists of about 500 students from all over the world.
- Dormitory housing and on-campus dining (3 meals per day) are available.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session, and do not pay tuition/fees to Inha University.
Korea University International Summer Campus
- Six-week program in Seoul, Korea (July 1 - Aug 8, 2013).
- Participants may take 2 or 3 courses, worth 3 credits each. Academic areas include Korean Language, Business and Economics, Humanities, Sociology and Cultural Studies, Fine Art and Design, Science, Politics and International Relations, Korean and East Asian Studies, and Law.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
Kyungpook National University English Summer Session
- Four-week program in Daegu, Korea (late June-July). Participants earn six credits. Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
Seoul National University International Summer Institute (SNU ISI)
- Six-week program in Seoul, Korea (late June-early August). Participants may earn six or nine credits. Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
University of Seoul International Summer School
- Five-week program in Seoul, Korea (June 28 - July 26, 2013). Participants earn six credits. Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session, and do not pay tuition/fees to UoS. Program includes free on-campus dormitory housing and field trips for UHM exchange students. UHM exchange students do not pay registration fee, and are partially reimbursed for the optional field trip.
Sogang Korean Studies Summer Program
- Five-week program in Seoul, Korea (June 24 - July 26, 2013).
- Students earn 6-9 transfer credits for Korean Studies and Korean Language. Program includes weekly cultural field trips.
- Students stay in on-campus dormitories; on-campus dining is available.
- Students apply directly to Sogang University, and pay Sogang University tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the Sogang International Summer College do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition.
Sookmyung International Summer School
- Four-week program (late June - late July). Participants may earn six credits. Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session. Sookmyung International Summer School provides a thriving environment where Sookmyung and other international students can have the culturally dynamic and global experience in the nation's capital city Seoul, Korea.
Yonsei University International Summer School
- Six-week program in Seoul, Korea (late June-early August). Participants may earn six or nine credits. Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
National University of Singapore Summer School Programme
- "Southeast Asia In Context." Mid-June through late July. Students apply directly to NUS, and pay NUS tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the National University of Singapore Summer School Programme do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition.
NUS Summer Programme (Business)
- For Business students only. Two-week program in July. Students apply directly to NUS, and pay NUS tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the NUS Summer School Programme do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition. Note: this program does not bear any academic credits; participation is for experience only.
Chulalongkorn University (Architecture) weblink coming soon
- Six-week Summer Design Build Thailand program for Architecture students.
- The program is a studio course that begins in mid-June and ends in late July.
- Students will be allocated to one of various design build projects led by faculty from the International Program in Design and Architecture (INDA) at Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Architecture.
- Participants register and pay tuition through UHM Summer Session.
University of East Anglia International Summer School
- Four-week summer course; students may choose from a variety of 'modules.'
- Students apply directly to UEA, and pay UEA tuition and fees directly. Students participating in the UEA International Summer School do not register for UHM Summer Session, nor pay UHM tuition.
When to apply
For Summer 2013, applications will be accepted Jan 7th - Feb 1st.

- Why is studying abroad important to you, and how does it fit into your academic goals?
- Which MIX Partner Universities interest you, and why?
- In what ways are you a good candidate for international exchange?
- What do you hope to gain while abroad, adn what do you hope to contribute?
