Faculty and Staff Development Workshops

CSDC clinicians are available to present faculty and staff development workshops on a variety of topics related to student mental health, such as assisting students in distress. These workshops can be requested for your faculty or staff group.

Basic Counseling/Peer Counseling Skills

We understand that basic communication skills assist us in developing relationships. We could assist you, your students, or faculty/staff in developing these types of skills in working with students.

Assisting Students in Distress

College students may encounter a variety of problems related to learning, emotions, social relationships, or substance abuse. Sometimes it may be difficult to know what is affecting a student's academic performance. The focus would be to discuss some of the common concerns that students face and focus on skills for recognizing problems and helping students. Skills include awareness, listening, problem-solving, maintaining healthy student / teacher relationship boundaries, and referral. Campus resources which can support you will also be discussed.

Please contact the Coordinator of Outreach at (808) 956-7927 to discuss ideas for workshops you may have.
