Centennial Scholarships
The Centennial Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admissions to high-achieving students. Hawaiʻi residents, non-residents, and international students are eligible for these Scholarships.
To be considered, students must meet the priority deadline for Fall admission, the Scholarship requirements, and be accepted to UH Mānoa. A separate application is not required. Please review the following Scholarships for requirements and terms/renewal conditions.

As a reminder, this scholarship is offered to you based on your excellent merit. To complete this offer, you must clear all admissions provisions. Please refer to your acceptance letter for the specific provisions you must clear in order to enroll and receive your scholarship.

Hawaiʻi Resident Freshmen
Eligibility
- First-time freshmen who are bona fide residents of Hawaiʻi, dependents of military personnel stationed in Hawaiʻi on active duty, or non-residents who provide proof of Hawaiian descent.
- Must be accepted for admission and must enroll for the Fall semester immediately following their high school graduation.
Requirements
- Be accepted to UH Mānoa.
- A minimum combined SAT score of 1800 (critical reading / math / writing).
- An ACT composite score of 27 (including the writing section).
- A 3.80 cumulative high school grade point average as calculated by the UH Mānoa’s Office of Admissions.
The Centennial Scholarship of $1,000 annually ($500 / semester)
To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be accepted and attain either the SAT score, ACT score, or grade point average requirement as listed above.
The Centennial Bonus Scholarship of $2,000 annually ($1,000 / semester)
To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be accepted and attain both the SAT score or ACT score and the grade point average requirements as listed above.
Tuition Differential Freshmen
Eligibility
- First-time freshmen who qualify for the Western Undergraduate Exchange tuition status or the institutional exemption tuition status.
- Must be accepted for admission and must enroll for the Fall semester immediately following their high school graduation.
Requirements
- Be accepted to UH Mānoa.
- A minimum combined SAT score of 1800 (critical reading / math / writing).
- An ACT composite score of 27 (including the writing section).
- A 3.80 cumulative high school grade point average as calculated by the UH Mānoa’s Office of Admissions.
The Centennial Scholarship of $1,000 annually ($500 / semester)

Non-Hawaiʻi Resident Freshmen
Eligibility
- First-time freshmen who are required to pay full non-resident tuition. Non-residents who qualify for an exemption from the non-resident tuition or who qualify for the Western Undergraduate Exchange tuition status are ineligible for this scholarship. Please refer to the Tuition Differential Freshmen section.
- Must be accepted for admission and must enroll for the Fall semester immediately following their high school graduation.
Requirements
- Be accepted to UH Mānoa.

- An ACT composite score of 27 (including the writing section).

International Freshmen
Eligibility
- First-time international freshmen who are required to pay full non-resident tuition. Non-residents who qualify for an exemption from the non-resident tuition are ineligible for this scholarship. Please refer to the Tuition Differential Freshmen section.
- Must be accepted for admission and must enroll for the Fall semester immediately following their high school graduation.
Requirements
- Be accepted to UH Mānoa.
- A minimum combined SAT score of 1550 or 1800 (critical reading / math / writing).
- An ACT composite score of 23 or 27 (including the writing section).
The Centennial Scholarship of $3,000 annually ($1,500 / semester)
To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be accepted and attain either the SAT score of 1550 or ACT score of 23 requirement as listed above.
The Centennial Bonus Scholarship of $6,000 annually ($3,000 / semester)
To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be accepted and attain either the SAT score of 1800 or ACT score of 27 requirement as listed above.
International Transfers
Eligibility
- International transfers who are required to pay full non-resident tuition. Non-residents who qualify for an exemption from the non-resident tuition or are seeking a 2nd bachelor’s degree are ineligible.
- Must be accepted for admission and must enroll for the Fall semester.
Requirements
- Be accepted to UH Mānoa.
- Have at least 24 transferable college credits completed by the priority application deadline.
- A minimum combined SAT score of 1550 or 1800 (critical reading / math / writing).
- An ACT composite score of 23 or 27 (including the writing section).
- A 3.80 cumulative transfer grade point average as calculated by the UH Mānoa’s Office of Admissions.
The Centennial Scholarship of $3,000 annually ($1,500 / semester)
To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be accepted and attain either the SAT score of 1550, ACT score of 23, or the transfer grade point average requirement as listed above.
The Centennial Bonus Scholarship of $6,000 annually ($3,000 / semester)
To be considered for this scholarship, the student must be accepted and attain both the SAT score of 1800 or ACT score of 27, and the transfer grade point average requirements as listed above.
Terms/Renewal
- The Scholarship is applicable towards the cost of tuition only and is awarded by semester. The Scholarship amount will be reduced if in combination with other merit or need-based aid, it exceeds the cost of tuition for that semester.
- This scholarship cannot be combined with the Regent's Scholarship, and/or the Mānoa Chancellor's Scholarship, and/or the John A. Burns School of Medicine Scholarship.
- Students must enroll in the Fall semester to which they have been admitted; deferment of the Scholarship to a future term will not be allowed.
- Students must register for, maintain, and complete a full-time credit load at UH-Mānoa (minimum of 12 UH-Mānoa credits; excluding AP, IB, or CLEP credits and repeated courses or backtracks) each semester and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in UH-Mānoa courses each semester. This does not include courses offered at UH-Mānoa’s Outreach College.
- Students must remain in good academic standing in terms of academic progress and student conduct.
- The Scholarship is offered for 8 consecutive semesters including your enrollment at another UH campus or until a bachelor’s degree has been completed, whichever comes first. For international transfers, 6 consecutive semesters or until a bachelor’s degree has been completed, whichever comes first. Once eligibility for renewal is lost, it cannot be regained.
- The acceptance form must be signed and submitted by the deadline indicated.
- The statement of intention to register and tuition deposit must be submitted by the deadline indicated.
- Acceptance of the Scholarship allows the University the right to publicize names of students who are Scholarship recipients.
- If you plan to participate in National Student Exchange (NSE) or Study Abroad (SA), or will be on an approved leave of absence please notify Financial Aid Services one semester prior to your exchange about your Scholarship.
