Freshman Admission Process
If you are still in high school and/or have not completed any courses at a post-secondary institution, you are considered a freshman applicant. Review the steps below to complete your application for admission.

Deadlines

*We encourage all applicants to apply for priority consideration. Applying by this deadline increases your chance of receiving financial aid and student housing. Certain programs (e.g., nursing, social work, education, etc.) may have earlier admission deadlines. Please check with the appropriate department for more information.

Note: This is the minimum GPA requirement. Professional and certain other programs may require higher GPAs and additional prerequisite course work. Please check with the appropriate department for more information.
All applicants must meet application deadlines set by the University. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Admission requirements are currently under review and are subject to change.
Application Checklist
UH Mānoa takes all your application materials into consideration when making an admissions decision. To apply for admission, please submit the following:
- University of Hawaiʻi System Admission Application
You may download the paper application or apply online. Please read the instructions carefully.
If you are not a U.S. citizen, are a non-native speaker of English, or have been educated in a country other than the United States, refer to the International Admission Process.
- Application Fee: $70 U.S.
The application fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable and valid only for the semester indicated on the application. Please send a money order or check payable to the University of Hawaiʻi or download the credit card authorization form (PDF).
- Official High School Transcripts
All high school information must be submitted through the Self-Reported Application. The initial admissions decision will be based on this information. Upon request from the Office of Admissions an official transcript must be submitted directly to UH Mānoa from your high school for validation and/or scholarships. If you have attended more than one high school, you are required to submit a transcript from each school you have attended.

- Official Standardized Test Scores
SAT or ACT scores must be submitted through the Self-Reported Application. The initial admissions decision will be based on this information. You may forward your test scores to UH Mānoa at any time. Our college codes are SAT 4867 and ACT 0902. Upon request from the Office of Admissions, official scores must be submitted directly to UH Mānoa from the testing agency for validation and/or scholarships. Ask your high school counselor for more information on testing locations and deadlines or visit the SAT website or the ACT website.

Additional Requirements for Homeschooled Applicants
Homeschooled applicants are expected to meet the minimum admissions requirements indicated for freshman applicants. Please review the detailed requirements below for homeschooled applicants.
Required Documents:
Complete the Self-Reported Application if your Homeschool transcript reflects a traditional high school curriculum. If you are in a non-traditional program, please include a separate statement that includes titles and descriptions of all coursework completed. Other additional information such as textbooks used, methods of teaching, and methods of evaluation and the resulting grades or structured assessments must be entered in the "Comment" box. If the additional information exceeds the amount of space given, attach an additional sheet to the hard copy Self-Reported Supplement or submit an email if you completed the online version.
Also, one of the following:
- GED scores
- SAT subject tests (minimum of three subjects) including math
- ACT subscores
